Where to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks for free

If you are actually in London but don’t hold a ticket for the fireworks and want to watch the show with your own eyes, then there are some areas where you can watch the show for free, the important thing is to arrive early so you find the best spot because it will be very busy!

  • Primrose Hill

Important: Primrose Hill is not an official viewing area of the fireworks event. Organising large gatherings and setting off fireworks and lanterns is prohibited under the Park Regulations which are enforceable by the Metropolitan Police.

The Royal Parks is working with partners, including the Metropolitan Police in ensuring that the park does not become a place for large groups to gather to hold their own firework event or party. Organising large gatherings without permission and setting off fireworks or lanterns is in breach of Royal Parks regulations, which are enforceable by the Met Police.
Primrose Hill is not suitable for large gatherings. The Metropolitan Police will be present in the park on New Year’s Eve, supported by stewards, who will be reminding people that the park will close at 1am on New Year’s Day.

  • Alexandra Palace
  • Parliament Hill
  • Hilly Fields
  • Millennium Bridge
  • Vauxhall Bridge
  • Lambeth Bridge

But remember, one of the best ways to enjoy the fireworks – with an excellent view and no need for a ticket – is to watch them on TV from the comfort of your sofa. The display will be broadcast live on the BBC at midnight.
