During the History of the Royal Air Force free walking tour, you will follow a trail taking you to some of the larger monuments dedicated to the men and woman who defended the UK. You will learn about the history of the RAF, from its founding a century ago during the First World War, how the ‘Few’ of the Battle of Britain defended the skies of London and the South East from invasion during the Second World War to the RAF’s most recent exploits over the skies of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Along the way of this guided tour, you will also be shown some of the often unnoticed scars of The Blitz and how London stood up to the tyranny of Nazi Germany in the most British way possible, with a smile, a song and a cup of tea in hand.
