Beer and Gin History London Pub Tour Details

Take a free tour through London’s famous Theatre District of Covent Garden and stop for a drink in 4 classic pubs including one of the oldest pubs in London and another voted Best Pub in London 2019, all 4 with their own unique character and history. You will get a chance in some of the pubs to sample cask ales from local breweries and gins from local distilleries. Find out the answers to the following questions!

What was the Great London Beer Flood and where did it take place?

Where did condemned men get their last bowl of ale on the road to the Tyburn gallows?

Why is Gin called “Mother’s Ruin”?

Why was the Lamb and Flag pub called the “Bucket of Blood”?

What exactly were the original Gin Palaces and are there any left?

We’ll be stopping for around 15-20 minutes to have a quick drink in each pub (if drinking beer a half pint is recommended) so don’t forget to bring some money for the drinks!

Our tour guide Mark is just AMAZING! Fantastic walking tour experience, we tried 5 pubs in a night of knowledge and laugh. Unbelievable unique experience, highly recommended!

Yu H - October 2019

Did the Beer/Gin Pub tour with Mark and it was fantastic! A nice mix of walking tour, trivial facts, and pub crawl. Mark was really personable and knowledgeable. Looking forward to taking another tour soon!

What does 'Free Pay What You Can' mean?

Wonders of London works on a pay what you feel basis, we understand that many of you have travelled various distances to get here, some of you might be locals, some of you might be on holiday here and we know that it can be difficult to enjoy all of London’s best attractions without spending a fair penny. We want our tours to be accessible to anyone and everyone so we don’t charge a ticket price but just bear in mind that are guides are working guides so we ask that at the end of the tour just have a think about what the tour was worth to you and pay however much or small you feel.
