Dozens of cherry, hazel and plum trees will be planted around the UK to inspire equivalent of hanami, Japanese custom of relishing fleeting sight and scent of blossom.
The project will improve access to nature with 33 trees that will be planted across the capital, one representing each borough and the City of London.
The initiative is being funded by money from People’s Postcode Lottery and it hopes to inspire the Japanese custom of relishing in the scent and fleeting presence of blossom.
