50,000 runners will take part in the race in October and another 50,000 will be offered the chance to participate remotely.
Last year the race did not take place for the first time in the Marathon’s 40-year history.
London Marathon 2021 is set to take place on 3 October and to be the biggest marathon staged.
Event director Hugh Brasher said “With a national vaccination programme underway, we hope to see an unprecedented 100,000 people take part in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 3 October”.
A record 50,000 number of people on the course and another 50,000 people to complete the 26.2 miles virtually using a tracking app.
