Leicester faces lockdown extension for two weeks amid Covid surge

The city’s mayor has said that pubs and restaurants may stay closed for two more weeks due to a surge in coronavirus cases.


Leicester could be the first place in England to face local lockdown measures after a rise in coronavirus cases.

Sir Peter Soulsby, Mayor of Leicester, said the government has recommended current restrictions to be maintained for a further fortnight.
