This year Shrove Tuesday falls on Tuesday February 25, so warm up your frying pans and get ready for some of London’s most fun Pancake Day races!

What is Pancake Day?

Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Lent, which according to tradition correspond to a period of abstinence, associated with clearing your cupboards of certain ingredients like sugar, fat and eggs. It’s called Pancake Day for this reason, because it represents a good opportunity to use up these ingredients.
