This is the biggest house price jump for five years, with the average price of a property in London that broke through the £500,000 barrier.
Land Registry data from end of 2020 showed that in London the average sold price exceeded £500,000, while the average UK house prices reached an all-time high of £250,000.
Since the first lockdown ended, house prices in London have grown, especially because buyers look for more space and their own garden.
