Electric scooters allowed on London’s roads from Saturday to help social distancing

Rental e-scooters will be legal on roads in Great Britain from Saturday, to ease pressure on public transport.

The trials are going to last for 12 months to assess whether the scooters will reduce motor traffic and what impact they will have on the safety of users.

Riders will need a full or provisional car/motorcycle/moped licence, must be aged at least 16 and it is recommended that they wear helmets.

E-scooters will be limited to 15.5mph.
