Coronavirus will keep theatres closed to 2021 says Cats and Les Mis producer

Cameron Mackintosh said that London theatres won’t be able to reopen until 2021 due to social distancing measures.

Queens Theatre Les Miserables Closed 2021

Mackintosh, one of the most successful musical producers with many shows including Cats and Les Misérables, said at the beginning of May that planning to reopen theatres can’t start until social distancing ends, which means early next year is going to be the earliest realistic date.

‘We will be back, but we need time to get back. If we don’t hear [about lockdown lifting] in a few weeks, I think the truth is we won’t be able to come back until early next year,’ he added.
