Join us on Saturday 20th July at Mudchute Park and Farm for the first event dedicated to the iconic Italian dish,Carbonara
Carbonara Day is the first event in London dedicated to this dish.
The idea to create this unique event, in London comes from the interest of Monica Olivieri, food marketing expert and food event organizer, to introduce a specific focus and knowledge about the regional, typical Italian recipes.
Carbonara is definitely an iconic dish, beloved by English people, but, at the same time, misrepresented.
This event is an educational food event, about Italian food and Italian culture, and it is also a charity event in support of homeless people.
We will support ‘Mudchute Meals’, the Mudchute Association, which provides food for the community through its food poverty project. The tool we will use is the Carbonara Sospesa (Carbonara Suspended), which is basically a Carbonara left paid for somebody who cannot buy food. It’s a real donation left to the Mudchute Park and Farm, which will provide food for the community.
Six International chefs will be in charge for the preparation of this incredible dish, but all of them will use a special twist.
Antonina ‘Nina’ Parker, a London based chef, Carmelo Carnevale, a genuine ambassador of the Italian cuisine in London, the Roman Arcangelo Dandini, the true representative of the Roman cuisine, Andrea Jeriri, the Italian ‘chef with the coppola’ (flat cap), a remarkable Sicilian symbol that defines Andrea’s roots, the Spanish Ignacio Rivera, Head Chef at the Spanish restaurant Donostia, and Alvaro Robles, currently chef de partie at Michelin Star Barrafina.
In the afternoon there will be a Carbonara Challenge, where Il Macellaio restaurants owner, Robert Costa will be challenged by Dino De Bellis, former teacher of Il Macellaio in-house chef Matteo Riganelli, and the coffee entrepreneur Francesco Bonpane will face the Italian Sky journalist, Alessandro Allocca. The judges? A bunch of lucky attendees. The winner will donate his victory to the charity association. On site there will be other Italian products, live music performed by street musicians and kid’s activity. The event is sponsored by Terranostra UK LTD, export company of Italian food & beverage, throughout UK, and Pastificio Benedetto Cavalieri, and under the cultural patronage of the Italian Chamber of Commerce.
